Hi, my name is Keyan

That's pronounced Key-in Goot-(like in wood)-kin (like kindling, not in kind)

I have always known that I was going to be an astronomer. Honestly, I cannot remember how or why I first decided that I wanted to do this, but I have always known that this is what I am meant to do. Now I study Astronomy & Physics at the University of Washington - Seattle.

I have over 2 years of experience researching Post Main Sequence Massive Stars, and how we can learn more about their mass-loss. I have been able to tackle many interesting techniques, including Polarimetry, Asteroseismology, and Coronagraphy.

Outside of research (I know, I'm not supposed to have interests outside of research ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) I love astronomy outreach and science communication. As the Outreach Coordinator for the UWs League of Astronomers, and the Student Coordinator for the Theodore Jacobsen Observatory, I give planetarium shows, public lectures, and help to organize open house nights at TJO, so that the public can see what astronomers do, and why we love what we do. I am also a leader of a group of undergrads who take a Mobile Planetarium to communities across Washington, giving shows to children from underrepresented groups in astronomy.
